Spirit of God Fellowship began in 1972 with a small group of people getting together in a house to pray and study the Bible. We all came from different religious backgrounds: Catholic, Protestant Reformed, Baptist, etc. We wanted to experience God in a way that we had never felt before. We were all looking for something more.

As we continued to meet and seek after God through studying the Bible, amazing things started happening. People began to come into a real relationship with Jesus Christ, and our lives started to change. The emptiness that we had felt in our lives was filled with the love of Christ. We all felt a new excitement to live for Jesus, and to help others experience the same Jesus that we were experiencing.

We eventually became our own church and named it “Spirit of God Fellowship.” We wanted the name to signify who we are in Christ and what we were doing when we met together. We then started ministries for young adults, kids, and small groups where church members could get together outside of the Sunday service to further grow as a community. Eventually, we gathered up the funds to build our own church building where we meet today!

But most importantly, Spirit of God Fellowship is a group of people who have stories to tell of what God has done in each of our lives. We strive to be more like Jesus and are guided by the Holy Spirit in our lives. We are average, everyday people-- definitely not perfect, and perhaps sometimes a little rough around the edges--but we are diligently seeking after God, and our lives have been radically changed by Him. God turned something that started out small into something extraordinary. Our prayer is that he continues to guide us through whatever season of life we find ourselves in as a community.
