Proverbs 23: I love how this book of wisdom starts off with, "When you sit down to eat with a ruler, consider carefully what is before you; put a knife to your throat if you are a man given to appetite.
I believe most Christians know the book of Proverbs is a book about wisdom. I believe it is so much more than that, especially made clear in the passages in Proverbs 17 through 20.
Proverbs 11 reminds us that living with integrity and righteousness brings rewards, while dishonesty and egotism lead to ruin. Verse 4 says, “Riches won’t help on the day of judgment, but right living can save you from death.”
