Seasons | Kara Kamstra

Hello, church family! God has been speaking to me during this time of quarantine, even though I might not have yet put it into practice! One of the areas of my life He’s been speaking to directly has been thanking Him and trusting Him IN ALL SEASONS. I was reminded of that today during a walk with my dog, Peach. I see God’s artistry, creativity and beauty in His creation. I see the flowers, trees, and plants blooming into beautiful blossoms that looked dead just a few months ago, now coming to life in this season of spring.

When I find myself complaining about the season of life I’m in, I have to remind myself that God is at work and is faithful through every season. Even when seasons go backwards or seemingly out of order (like our weather sometimes). Similarly to our weather, sometimes life seasons go backwards- like the return of what I thought I had finished or conquered: loneliness, depression, and grief over a loved one. I find hope in knowing that He’s using whatever season I’m in to draw me closer to Him and remember His promises - that He is faithful, and He is in control.

We all go through seasons: the good, the bad, and the ugly. “God has made everything beautiful for its own time.” Ecclesiastes 3:11. God can take the difficult things that are going on with us and around us and, in the proper time, turn them around and use them for good - the way He intends. Even during this unprecedented time of a global pandemic. He can turn difficult seasons of our lives into times of growth, healing, and deliverance. Think about this verse again. He has made everything beautiful for its own time. He is up to something we may not be able to understand or see right now but, He’s pruning us for such a time as this. He is working to draw us closer to Him and be more like Him, and that itself IS BEAUTIFUL.

You may be going through a season and be saying to God, “I’m a hot mess! My health, my finances, my marriage (or lack thereof), my friendships, my future – everything is unknown and feels out of control.” You may be going CRAY CRAY during this quarantine right now.  I encourage you to be intentional in looking for ways that God is at work in you during this season. Remember, He is faithful in EVERY season. You can trust Him with all of your broken pieces. Look for things to be thankful for-big or small. God will make a way, even when it feels like there is no way. Trust Him. There is a time for everything.

Ecclesiastes 3 New Living Translation (NLT)

1  For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.

2  A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to harvest.

3  A time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build up.

4  A time to cry and a time to laugh, a time to grieve and a time to dance.

5  A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones, a time to embrace and a time to turn away.

6  A time to search and a time to quit searching, a time to keep and a time to throw away.

7  A time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be quiet and a time to speak.

8  A time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
