Reflections: Proverbs 29-31 & Job 1-3

Reflections: Proverbs 29-31 and Job 1-3 Spirit of God Fellowship Church in South Holland, IL

Good morning, I hope my Father’s words echo in your soul today.

Proverbs 29:2 starts us off with, "But when the righteous are in authority, people rejoice; But when wicked men rules, the people groan.” In its true sense, the word “righteous” means as it should be (also meaning as God has established something the way He intended it). I also like to sub in the relationship one has with his father, or lack thereof. For instance, we could say Proverbs 1:2 “But when a person is established with God and in authority, the people rejoice.” You can almost sub in those meanings anytime you see the word “righteous.” It helps me understand His word better. How true it is that we rejoice knowing when we are governed by a person who has accepted Jesus as His Lord and Savior and publicly declares it. While I don't put my trust in man, I do put my trust in my faith and the word. Proverbs 29:3: “Whoever loves wisdom makes his Father rejoice, but a companion of harlots wastes his wealth.” Another great nugget! How proud are we as parents when our children accomplish something, like graduating school, or when someone tells me, “Your children are well-mannered!”

Proverbs 30:5: This passage really struck out to me. “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.” How profound are these words! And how much will you accept them in to your heart's belief? He will meet you at the core of your belief.  If you believe this passage 100%, He will engage in you 100%. Our Father holds nothing back to protect us. The Holy Spirit is more than capable of shielding from fear, anxiety, depression and Satan.

Proverbs 31 are the words of King Lemuel, which are an utterance from his mother, who taught him. Proverbs 31:10: “Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.”  Having been married 21 years, I can say that my wife has helped me get closer to God. She has the fear of the Lord and on a daily basis is righteous. Planting seeds of Jesus  in our children's heart is all we can do as a couple and wait for the fruit.
